But how can we chage those beliefs? The intention to change a limiting belief is like planting a seed in your life—but that alone isn’t enough. The subconscious only responds to repetition, to images and symbols, to positive language (it is literal so it doesn’t understand negative sentences, humor or irony), and to the emotion that goes with all of that.

We have to nurture that seed by building a new thought habit ( through visualisation and repetition) and pairing it with the elevated emotion we want to experience. Then start behaving, and especially watching our language, in a coherent way to match the new belief.

The story we tell ourselves—and how it makes us feel—shapes our reality far more than we realize.

The possibilities are endless. The question is: What new beliefs do we dare to hold and sustain over time?

And what about the secondary effects of the treatments? Are they a badge to wear proudly, reminders that you made it—that this is the new you: with blemishes, with bruises and scars? And that it’s ok.

I am thankful for my body, for carrying me through it all, for taking every blow and still keeping me alive. It was only after treatment ended that it could finally let go—release the pain and exhaustion it had been holding.

For me, illness was a wake-up call. A reminder that living with uncertainty as a constant shadow is the only way to truly live. Control is just an illusion. Uncertainty brings me back to the present and relieves the pressure of needing to have all the answers. Am I ok now? Do I feel safe? Everything else is still unwritten.

I suppose there are many ways to regain magic in your life. For me, it came through illness. In 2021 I was diagnosed with cancer — I couldn’t believe it. My world turned upside down, and for a long time nothing made sense.

Until it did.

Shortly after being diagnosed, I started a meditation programme with my dear friend Carmen López ( https://www.carmen-lopez.com).

During my sessions with her, a word kept showing up at the end of the meditations: TRUST!

I needed to learn to trust in life again. Trust in my healing process. Trust in my intuition.

On one particular session with her in the forest, I got the impulse to start drawing in order to get my mind away from the heavy emotions I was confronting. Maybe I could turn the experience I was going through into something creative.

And so I started drawing the little Elves and their healing messages.
I would sit with my 5 year old daughter at the kitchen table, and we would both draw for hours at a time ( something I hadn’t done anymore since I was a child).

It was therapeutic.
It helped me regain trust.

It helped me connect with my intuition.
It helped me to believe in magic again.
